What Swappace is

Swappace moves files between devices over a QR-paired connection. One device opens a QR code, another scans it, and files pass directly between them and expire on their own. There is no account to create, no app to install, and nothing left stored once a transfer is done.

Why it helps

It is built for the handoff, not for storage — moving a file from one place to another, then getting out of the way.

Between your own devices

Get photos off your phone onto your laptop, or a downloaded file from your laptop onto your phone, without a cable or a cloud app.

Handing off to someone nearby

Send a file to someone in the same room without asking for their email, a phone number, or which chat app they use.

When you don't want a copy left behind

Guest transfers are not a place to store anything. Once the file is downloaded, it is gone — no account, no history, nothing to clean up later.

How it works

One device opens Swappace and shows a QR code. A second device scans it and the two are paired. Files picked on either side upload straight to storage, and the other device sees them appear within a couple of seconds — no refresh, no code to type in.

What happens to your files

  • Every file is scoped to the session that created it — there is no shared or public storage to browse.
  • Downloads go through a signed, time-limited link rather than a permanent URL.
  • A file is deleted shortly after it is successfully downloaded.
  • A file that is never downloaded is cleared out automatically, so nothing lingers indefinitely.

Common questions

Do I need an account to send files with Swappace?+

No. Scan the QR code and send — no signup, no login. An account is entirely optional and does not change how a guest transfer works; it only adds Workspace, below.

Is Swappace free?+

Yes. There are no paid plans. Guest transfer is free with no limits beyond the per-transfer file count and size below.

How many files can I send, and how large can a transfer be?+

Up to 10 files and 10 GB per transfer. Start a new transfer with a fresh QR code if you need to send more.

What happens to a file after it is downloaded?+

It is deleted from storage shortly after a successful download. Nothing about a guest transfer is kept once both sides are done with it.

What if nobody downloads a file?+

Files that are never downloaded are cleared out automatically after a short waiting period, so nothing is left sitting in storage indefinitely.

What happens after a QR code is used or expires?+

The session it points to closes. Generate a new QR code from the home page any time you want to start another transfer.

Can I send between any two kinds of devices?+

Yes. Swappace works between any two devices with a browser and, on the scanning side, a camera — phone, laptop, tablet, or desktop, in either direction.

Can someone else see or access my files?+

No. Each file is scoped to the session that created it and is served through a signed, time-limited link — there is no public listing or shared storage.

What does signing up actually get me?+

Workspace. Sign in on your own devices once, and they recognize each other — sending between them skips the QR code entirely. It does not add persistent file storage; transfers still expire the same way whether you are signed in or not.
